it's an adventure

my best friend

lives up the street from me

today is sunday

at one pm we'll meet up,

go chasing after the tantalizing jingle

that roams our neighborhood every weekend,

announcing cold sugary treats,

like we always do.

my best friend

lives up the street from me

she promised to bike over this morning

but it's pouring

and while that would stop her mother,

I know she'll be sprinting down the block soon enough,

raincoat or hoodie pulled tight around her face,

laughing wildly as the rain batters her in sheets,

and I'll step out the door and call,

it's an adventure!

like we always do.

my best friend

lives up the street from me

and although the rain is stopping now,

the sun isn't coming out,

but we don't care,

and we'll go biking this afternoon

like we always do.
