Into the meadow

Into the meadow we run together,

Faces shining in the sun.

Beneath the starry sky we wander,

'Til what we seek is done.

We play and we laugh

We joke and we splash

In the waters of a shimmering lake.

We'll never get older

So why not live here forever

Beyond what time can take?

There's nothing to prove

In this wilderness with you

Where being solidly me is enough.

Anything can happen

This forest is magic

As we escape from society's bluff.

I wonder aloud

Why what happened played out

And you're there to dry my tears.

We talk me through it

Because I think I blew it

But you'll stay, right, through the years?

You'll keep me company

Where no one else can see

And you'll protect me as you say?

With a quick nod,

The rest of the world is gone,

And I know this won't be our last day.

    I guess I've been thinking

    The story mountain we made

And the characters didn't even get their lives told

Because ours crashed and burned before we could handle it

  • I Won't

    Nope

I'm not going back to school.

I'm going to ignore the back-to-school ads

    And shopping trips

    The packing

    The new outfits

    The brand-new pencils

    I won't do it

  • Glimpses

    Noise

    Warming up

    Keys

    Fingerings

    Chatter

    Laughter

    The chorale

    Stopping

    Starting

    "Again"

"I know you can do better than that"

    Serious but

    You also love it
