My name

Two tributes

each to my past

both to my future.

The first is a remembrance of what still lies in my room

A token of childhood

a pile of anthropomorphic animals in outfits

with houses and furniture and food items.

The second is a memorial

to a character from a book

the second half of her name

before she was lost forever

not even among where her ancestors roamed.

They are connected

one,

my past,

the other,

her future,

both potential and absolute

neither undeniable

both

connected

to me.

  • Exploring

    The toy falls

    faster

    faster

    closer to the ground

    its paws reaching out

it lands on the grass with a light thud

    it hides there

    waiting

    quietly.

  • Everything

I have the chance to do anything

    not quite everything

    but many things

and I don't know what I want to do.

    I could be a writer

    or start my own company

    or be an Einstein-level mathematician

  • Stereotypes

    I hate stereotypes

and the heavy, constant smell of perfume as I walk by my classmates wearing too much lip gloss

but I like dressing myself up

and I do care about my appearance
