Poem from when I was 9

I have very mixed feelings about this poem, which I wrote when I was 9. Please enjoy, or at least humor yourself when Little Me rhymed "need" with "feed"!  - Calico Frost

Animals and Equal

There are animals everywhere.

There are animals that are helped,

And animals in need.

There are animals everywhere,

That some need feed.

Some fine,

Some hungry,

Some that are looking for new safe homes.

Some happy in the wild,

And some not.

Every animal are unique,

They really are too,

Even farm ones,

And also pets,

Even animals that aren't discovered yet.

So animals everywhere,

Do what you do,

And don’t worry too much…

Because do what you do,

Because always, always,

You are you.

    No one died

    right?

    I wasn't affected

    but I am affected.

    I know them

    their situation

    we're good friends

but why is all of this happening in my lifetime?

    In our lifetimes?

  • I don't know

    I find at night

    I am haunted by thoughts.

    Simpler things, like

Math assignment due tomorrow, can I finish it by then?

    or

Did I really turn in the essay or not? I don't remember...

    At school

    we're doing a poetry unit.

"Oh cool, we write poetry all the time!"

    My friend says.

    What we didn't realize, though,

was that the teacher turned on the tap

    to our inner selves
