Safe Haven

Soft sunlight

Warming our bodies

Cold from the long night

We stand up

Shaking the dew from the morning's melt off of our fur

We leap into the wildflowers

Running along the river,

Flowing at an easy pace.

We are carefree,

You will be, too,

If you let your mind wander to such a faraway place that seems so

Impossible

You can reach this

You can climb to this height of living

Of existence

It just takes effort

Perseverance

Hope

To reach your safe haven.

  • Drowning in the unknown

I am tormented by slight movements

    even silence is hurting me

    reality seems to be strobing

this anticipation isn't just fear of what is to come

it's laced around the edges with knowledge of how it went last time

of how a repeat of last year is most likely inevitable.
