Shocked talking

Beep… Beep… Beep…

What is that sound? Mandy groaned and rubbed her eyes as blurry visions started turning into clear images. It was a strange room, filled with machines making noises and potted plants and curtains. It smelled like a sickening amount of sanitizer, and looking around, she could see two dispensers.

“She’s awake!” She heard someone gasp. When she turned her head, she turned it too fast and it cramped up.

“Ouch!” she shouted.

“And she’s speaking, too!” said that voice again. She heard squeaky wheels and then two people walked past the paper curtain on the right side of her and stood on either side of her.

“Hello,” said the man with a white lab coat with a name tag saying: Dr. Axel Wilkins. It sounds like something she heard before, and she could easily tell that this was the voice that was speaking before she could see them.

“I’m Dr. Wilkins,” He continued.

“And this is Polly, or Ms. Darney, a student learning at Chistler med school. She’s been assisting me while you were…” He paused for a moment, thinking about how to phrase what he was going to say next carefully.

“Asleep. Yes, asleep. Back to what I was saying, she has helped me with your exams while asleep,” He kept repeating that word and Mandy was starting to get a little annoyed.

“And so long as you allow it, I would like to keep her around.” Mia slowly turned her head so it wouldn’t cramp again, and saw Polly smile shyly at her.

“Uh-uh-uh-ah?” That's all Mandy could say.

“Uh-oh.” Dr. Wilkins said.
“I guess you still need more time, miss-” Polly cleared her throat and Dr. Wilkins chuckled, his small beer-belly jiggling.

“Thank you, Ms. Darney! I could’ve accidentally slipped some helpful information to help get a better understanding of the state that…” He paused again to think about what to Mandy.

“This young girl is in.” He nodded, and started writing something down on a clipboard.

“Ms. Darney, will you be so kind as to give our patient here her proteins?” He gestured towards the cart with the squeaky wheels, and Mandy noticed that It had trays with plastic tops like a dome over them. Polly grabbed one and pushed a table top over Mandy’s legs, which, when she looked at them, she saw that her left foot had a cast, and there was a bandage around the middle of her right one. Polly put the tray on the bed’s table top and removed the top, to show the icky food. She could immediately tell, though she had amnesia, that this was a hospital by just the look of that food.

“Wait, I’m supposed to eat that?” Mandy said, and Dr. Wilkins looked up in shock at her.

“Well, I guess someone has a bit of ‘shocked talking’!” They all laughed.

I’m sorry, but what does he think C.I.A. stands for? Clowns institutional- alright. I have nothing for the A, but you get my point. He flunked all of his training, but since his Dad was a former agent, they let him through!
