Sleigh ride

Just hear those sleigh bells jingling, ring tingle tingling too

F F F F F G F-D Bb C D C-A G F-

imitating the human voice with instruments

percussion back there repeatedly hitting the sleigh bells

nobody knows what they're doing

it's a sight read

it's fun

muffled laughter mixes with wrong notes and offbeat rhythms in the performance hall

Come on, it's lovely weather for a sleigh ride together with you

-F G-A-Bb-C-D-Eb-F G F-D-C-Bb C C-D-C-Bb G Bb-

the words ring true even though we can't hear them

lyrics running through our minds

I want to get lost in this winter wonderland

and this is my favorite place

my favorite people

CRASH

early entrance on the cymbals

wait there aren't supposed to be cymbals

are there?

DA-DA-DUM

steady bassoon

flutes coming in early

high register

Giddyup, giddyup, giddyup, let's go

G-F#-G B G-F#-G B G-F#-G B G A

yikes accidentals

look ahead

you have to constantly look ahead

it's fast cut

stay on top

Let’s look at the show

B-A-F#-D F#

We’re riding in a wonderland of snow

E-G-E-B-E G-B-A-G F#-

that magical wonderland

no snow yet but we had flurries in the morning

cozy winter nights

bright and early winter mornings

embracing the season

the holiday cheer

excitement

festivities

joy

love

Giddyup, giddyup, giddyup, it's grand
Just holding your hand

I play the notes with my truth

the lyrics shining under my fingers

I can taste the snow on my tongue

gathering on my eyelashes

I can feel the warmth of a companion

We’re gliding along with a song
Of a wintery fairy land

strings now

9 measures of rest for us

sit back and watch the magic

There's a happy feeling nothing in the world SLAPSTICK can buy
As we pass around the coffee and the pump- SLAPSTICK kin pie

my percussion friend in the back

with the big wooden v slapstick thing

loud clapping noise

accent

he's grinning from ear to ear

thriving in the chaos

the orchestra follows

It'll nearly be like a picture print like Currier and Ives
These wonderful things are the things
We'll remember all throughout our lives

I will remember this

it's wonderful

blissful

to just be able to sight read

to just have fun

not be so serious like we are

letting loose

it takes the vague form of a song

rich and raw

unpolished

BRRAAAAMPPP

trumpets imitating horses

oh, jeez...

"just a heads up

you have to memorize the excerpt

from the song

so we will

stand in the aisles at the Flynn Theater"

collective uh oh

we have to memorize it?

And people will hear us.

People will pay to hear us.

Pay for tickets.

We matter.

I matter.

This is my Neotheater.

It's lovely weather

for a sleigh ride together with you.

  • Family

I showed my grandmother my keyboard

she took six years' of lessons when she was younger.

Her fingers found the keys -

    she could still read -

    just enough

    just a little.

I pulled out my flute-piano duet book

  • First kiss

    You cared;

    I tried to.

    You did;

    I thought I did.

    I wanted so badly

to be a character in my books

    and to feel longing

    to feel needing

    to feel love and to

    be loved

  • The thing is

    The thing is,

    I can't get over it.

    It sticks in my memory

    unforgettable

    and I want it

but I know it was just

    subconscious dreamland.

    It was old
