Spring Night Hair

Walking through the woods

I met a woman

With spring in her hair

Not flowers with colors that overwhelm

Not sunshine so bright it burns

Not plump fruits with juice that makes my hands so sticky

Her hair was full of bugs, making their home on the strands that framed her face

They made her scalp a flower bed

Her hair was full of moonlight, lighting up her face so she could smile at all

It let the sun sleep so it could shine another day

Her hair was full of vegetables, their roots kept her hair tied up so she wouldn’t fall

They fed the rabbits while fruit dozed on their home branches
