The Sweetest

I wonder what kind of mind lies behind those big brown eyes,

behind her laugh, which makes the sweetest souls swoon,

behind her smile, infectious and sugar sweet.

yet through it all,

I do not envy her.

she glows in all her glory,

but she can't accept herself as is.

breaking hearts is like a drug of which she is addicted to,

leaving the purest and most innocent fans standing in the rain.

if only I could save those wounded by her wrath,

those disappearing into her abyss of unrequited love.

but I am not a prince,

and this must be his journey, not mine.

I've learned to enjoy the sweet feeling of not being enveloped in wretched heartbreak.

I must consider myself lucky to have escaped,

to have not got caught by those big brown eyes,

glorious symphony of a laugh,

and a smile that's got to be fake.
