Things They'll Never Understand

They'll never understand that you don't have to snap

To be heard.

They'll never understand that their astounding rudeness

Cruelty

Hatred

Discriminatory remarks

Hurt actual people

GASP

Actually reach into the heart of someone who did nothing to deserve them

And prick it

Over and over

Until the pricking becomes stabbing

And they deal damage like this is real-life Fortnite.

Their anger

At themselves

Is reflected outward

To teachers

Classmates

Real people

With real feelings

But they don't care.

They'll never understand what it feels like to have to live with them

Every day

On and on

Continuously.

Maybe they should look at themselves.

Peek in the mirror.

They stare at themselves for hours in that thing every morning

But they never look further than the outside.

They'll never understand

That where free reign is given

They will take

And take

And take

Advantage.

They'll never understand true friendship

Bonded by the horrible environment created by

Them

Forced together but sticking like glue because

How could we love anyone else?

They'll never understand

Because they refuse to.

They'll never understand when one of the only sources

Of happiness

Of freedom

Is words

Or a friend's smile

Or a spelling list.

They'll never understand

Because they refuse to care.

    Festival

    Long day

past where morning sun shines and into the dark huskiness of night

    fluorescent lights beating down

    then flickering off

    a fanfare

    a reflection

    a redemption

    Instincts

    Some things are just instinct

like when I just ran to you

as soon as I saw you

    and hugged you for -

    oh yeah -

    the first time

    very very platonic of course

    you're my big brother.

    Flying solo

Your solo is like sun shining through the clouds in my heart

    it's like a platonic ballad

    it's like you are playing

    through first loves

    and forbidden loves

    and grass in the summer

    and crunchy chips
