The Wall Between Us (Inspired by Pyramus & Thisbe)

The brick blockade stands tall,

My love is severed by this wall,

My heart broken into two—

The only remedy is a kiss from you.

Ill met by torturous moonlight,

A lioness guarding the tree in sight,

It bears its teeth, and I flee fast,

If only I had known that day would be our last.

Your corpse so wretched and sad,

(I think I have finally gone mad)

His is the sword I chose to die on

And now we'll never see another dawn.

I am thinner than I thought:

Though my scale says I'm not,

I can see the sour fruit I've caught.

In the spring, the flowers call

Like I could be King of them all,

Burning in the sun before the fall.

    something in between

    like a tortured machine—

    it will power down soon.
