Who I am

The gray area between dark and light

dancing in and out of different shades

sentimental

snarky

indignant

I am myself

and the world gets to

deal with it

don't hide my personality

let me speak

I have a voice and I'm not going to let it be wasted

I speak for myself

and when my friends are silenced, I speak for them too

so when I say let me live

I'm talking about my friends too

the ones who were canceled, hidden, covered up for speaking out of turn

we don't care about who's turn it is to talk

we are here to speak

and so we open our mouths and tell our stories

our opinions

our lives

to those who listen to us.

    Revival

    It's a band piece

    weird, I know

    it's from last year

and we only played it in concert once

but it means a lot to me

it reminds me of a lot.

    Me

    How

    do others see me?

Do they see a girl in gray cargo pants and light blue thermal quarter zip?

Do they see a friend who loves them despite her crankiness?

Do they see a quiet awkward girl who prefers books to people?
