ICEBREAKERS

Have you ever been in a situation were you didn’t know anyone that well, or at all and you didn’t know what to say? Well I've been there to, it can be awkward, weird, and even embarrassing. If you have ever felt that way you might want some ways to break the ice, as in, start a conversation.

To start, you should just simply say, “Hi, how are you?” Some people might ask it back or some might not. The second question you can ask could be, “Who is your teacher?” or, “Who is your homeroom teacher?” If you already know the answer to your question, you can ask something else like, “Do you play any sports?” or “What do you like to do outside of school?”

Some people might be shy, and answer the question but not ask anything back. If that happens, you can say, “Yeah, same,” or, “I like to _______.”

Once you get to know people you can ask more personal questions like, “Do you have any siblings?” or “Do you have any pets?” You can also ask where their parents work, but some people don’t live with, or know both their parents (so you should know that first so you don’t upset them). Those are some of the many things you can say to start conversation and I hope you have good luck doing so.
