One sentence, they wrote, and a hundred fingers set to keys and responded.

The trees talk,

you know?

They talk and if you listened

you would know,

they whisper

like kindergarteners

who can't stand straight in lines

but they can jump straight

One night,

Every session,

Of every summer,

We go stargazing.

I look up at the sky and try to see everything,

I try to take in the moment,

It only lasts so long.

Advocate for yourself,

Believe in yourself, Have

confidence in yourself, Keep your

dignity, Remember, not

Everybody is perfect,

Friends come and go,

Watch the fire through wavy glass 

See the shadows 

Bury the past 

Gaze upon distorted flames 

Glowing embers 

Burning names  

I’m not really sure 

What being in college even means.

Because every morning I wake up and brush my teeth,

Head to the dining hall,

My roomate and friends by my side.
