Calico Frost

On Saturday, May 3rd, 2025, at 10:40 PM, it rained a perfect rain. There was no buildup. The skies never darkened. It just happened. It was not raining before, and now it was.

The pool deck is wet

It smells like chlorine

I am no stranger to this

I know the swim caps and goggles

I know the way of being a swimmer

The way you either are or aren't

How could I not

I loved it

I take care 

Of everyone

All the time

The oldest

At home

At school

Checking in with friends

Trying to comfort them on their drama

Without being pulled into it

I can't sleep

I know I need to

Ugh, again??

Usually I have trouble getting to sleep

In the summer

It's hot

But the AC's on and my earbuds are in

Relaxing music

What's the problem?

It's sort of familiar

You next to me

I can't tell if it's me being familiar to you

How you feel beside me

Or familiar to

Being pressed against someone on a couch

(this has happened to me a lot)
