Small girl
with ocean eyes
and sunshine hair
curling like tendrils
around her round face
Her smile is full of gaps
where teeth have fallen out
and her giggle 
is like raindrops
She's mischievous

A poem by my 6-year-old sister

Spring is pretty
with flowers and trees

Summer is hot
sun shining bright

Then comes Fall
all the leaves fall

Winter is last
cold and long

 

Once I dreamt
that there were
giraffes in my yard
I went outside
to see them
and they went
to the backyard
and I followed them
There were five giraffes
and one gray kitten
and I spoke to them
and they spoke back

you're lucky
snow is beautiful
and pure
like the souls of angels
drifting out of the sky

The snowstorm has shut down everything
and there's so much time to waste
so I didn't even shower until noon
And when I did I was in there for an hour
because it's cold outside and the water is warm
