I am just like her—

Trapped in a sea of white. 

My mind is just as frayed—

By the glittering blades

That contrived all her words.

The letters of her thoughts,

Our ending is bittersweet

Our past set in stone but our futures untold

A doctor, architect or athlete

We have yet to know what our older life will hold

From the way I suck up words 

Books done in one sleepless night 

It seems I've been reading my whole life 

But in third grade 

Here’s a toast 

to the girls who have had their hearts broken

By guys that never knew their names

This isn't a "see you in three months"

Because I'm not coming back

This isn't a "goodbye for now"

At least not all the goodbyes are that temporary,

This is a "I'll be back on Alumni day"
