Doorways

Deadline

Doorways take us into other rooms––into other worlds. If you had one doorway that could take you anywhere, where would it be? What would the door look like? Where could you find the door? Describe it. [Image by sanctus_fera on YWP]

  • Portal

The portal opens in those fleeting moments that feel like they are about to crescendo, about to climb the final step to see over the mountain top.

  • Death's Door

When someone is sick, we say they're on Death's doorstep.

    But aren't we always?

People always act like we're so far away from death.

    But really we're not.

  • The Lock Pick's Garden

I was never allowed in the basement,

there was always a lock on the door,

and my parents avoided telling me why.

    Great parenting strategy,

not even making up a lie for me,

    Mi portóncito

    Mi portóncito

    My little gate that swings me across the same arc across the tile patio floor;

the cold metal gray bars pressed to my face, hanging on to

Mi portóncito- the one taking me home

  • Walk into a Book

    Imagine if

Every book came with a key

A key that opened a door

    Into the book

    Into the worlds

    That are your happy place

    Escape from reality

    Taken to a new level

The joy found in between the pages

  • Gentle Notes

The door isn't one I can see,

Yet it grows, shifts, and deforms.

When I started there was only silence,

    But everyday its volume grows.

    The door started empty,

    But over time it crescendoed.

  • thresholds

    take me out.

knock me over the head with a baseball bat and drag my unconscious form

beneath the shadowed wall. into a wardrobe. a hobbit hole.

wherever you can think to put me, do so. i want out.

i want to make my mark

  • Doorway

The doorway would replace where my closet is. Instead of seeing my messy closet with random clothes thrown about, it would open to something else. My doorway would take me to the woods.
