Irony

The irony is not lost on me. The day that Donald J. Trump will be inaugurated, is the same day as Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The day that a man who has spent his political career trying to take away trans, gay, women’s, and black rights is reinstated as president is also the day meant to honor a man who spent his entire life fighting for civil rights.

I’m sorry, Dr. King. I’m sorry that your day is becoming Trump’s day this year. I’m sorry that your day is the day he begins tearing down everything you fought so hard for. I know you’ll forgive America, but I’m sad you have to.

Trump, prove me wrong. I know you won’t, but use your term to uphold the values of Dr. King. It will help you fix your twisted thought patterns. Fight for all Americans, not just the white ones. Not just the men. Not just the ones who like you.

So, reader, take January 20th to reflect on two things. Reflect on Dr. King and his many positive messages, and reflect on Donald Trump, and the many ways you can endeavor to be absolutely nothing like him. Channel kindness, not hate. Peace, and not violence. Knowledge, and not ignorance. These will be the attitudes that fix the world again, on January 20th, 2029.

  • Justice

The justice part of the American justice system has left the building.

You should absolutely not be able to convict someone of a crime and have them suffer zero consequences.

    No jail time.

    No parole.

  • My World

How do I see the world? I see a lot of bad things. That’s what the news likes to show us. There’s war, poverty, hunger, death, school shootings, plane crashes, and of course the looming threat of climate change.
