Sisters

Where are you going to be

When I need you?

Are you going to stand there

And take it?

Are you going to

Share the load?

Are you going to have my back

When I'm anything but perfect?

Where are you going to be?

Or are you going to

Laugh it off?

Tell me I'm overreacting?

These are the questions I ask

Of anyone I think could be as good as it gets.

And the both of you

Have passed the test.

I get it if you can't be here for every mood swing.

I'm a hard person to agree with.

I do not bend or break

For just anyone.

But for the two of you

I'd do anything.

You know that, right?

I joke

I poke fun

I mock and sigh and roll my eyes

But I love you, okay?

Both of you.

You are my sisters

In this.

That means a lot to me.

Bonded by an environment all three of us

Wish we could leave

But can't;

Forced together, yes,

But sticking like glue.

To my sisters, who have been there

Through thick and thin;

My best days, and my worst

Thank you.

  • All my friends are leaving

All my friends are eighth graders,

    Or on the other team.

    Aside from two,

Who I hope never tire of me

    But probably already have.

All my friends are eighth graders,

Which means all my friends are leaving.

  • The end of the beginning

    I thought

    This would be it.

Five and a half days would pass

    Like lightning -

    And you'd be gone,

    And so would everyone else,

    And we'd readjust,

    Refocus again,

    And I'd be back

    To square one.
