Hey, friend! This is such a late response, and I hope this can provide any solace to this question despite the tardiness. Poems can be intense, and if you want to write an "intense" poem then feel free! Some of my favorite poems I've read and written have a sharper tone. However, when I have written things that can seem a little worrisome to others, I still acknowledge the same as you with it not being literal. Sometimes, people read poems and automatically associate the writing with the authors direct emotions and intentions in the poem, but that is not always the case. It is also a small reminder that people do care about you, and that can be sweet in its own way. I understand your point of view completely, and don't feel discouraged from writing these types of poems because of their comments. Just reassure them that it's a separate entity than your own life, a character in a way. I hope this helps and that your holiday is going great!

Thank you, I appreciate it. I think something broke in a lot of people that day, but I’m glad we can write about it when it’s too much to think about.

I’m so sorry. It was so hard to face the truth, and I get just wanting to go back to bed and not face it. If you ever wanna chat about it, feel free to send me a message.
