If I’m having writer’s block, I usually start by writing something that I know. Something meaningful to me, or something that’s happening around me.
Hi, I have a few suggestions:
1. Pick a random word, and write a poem based on it.
2. Look up writing prompts on the internet
3. Read. I asked an international bestselling author for advice on becoming a better writer, and she said that the best way to improve is to read. Reading can also give you ideas on what to write as well
4. Write about what's going on in the world around you
5. If you want to make a habit of writing every day, force yourself to write. Even if your idea is terrible, write it down, even if it's only a line of poetry. At least you wrote today, and that's what matters.
I am always having writer's block too! I try to write in a different style than normal when I can't seem to think of any ideas. Today I wrote a prose poem for the first time (there's a YWP workshop about it and it's really helpful!!!) and it was super fun, even if it might not have been my best ever. Hope that helps!
set yourself a deadline or enter a contest. In this way, you have a day you have to get it done by and you will force yourself to write.
