Bias can transform
An ordinary opinion
To one that favors in the defense of another.
Bias can change
How groups of people may feel
If it is directed towards or against them.
Bias is a weapon
Can be used with care
Can deal blows to identity
Can harm, hurt or share.

I talked with this third grader on the bus
she asked to see my watch face.
I showed her and said,
"this is me and my boyfriend at a concert we played
at the Flynn"
are you still in love?
The girls,
the little kids on the bus,
switching seats and grabbing friends and TALKING
loud and jarring
life is joy, to them,
life is play.
I want them to stay there.
My science teacher accused me
playfully and yet fiercely
of stealing an envelope
I had been threatening to peel the cover strip off of the sticky part
so it glues together
because it was just so tempting.

You're absolutely right! Do you have ways of overcoming internal biases, if you ever notice them arising in yourself and affecting your opinions or actions?
Yes - sometimes I'll slow down and think of the situation at a neutral status, and rethink my actions from that point forward.
