Iceberg

Poem by Chloe C.

They never look under the ocean,
Only at the top of the iceberg.
They glance at the peak of the snowy mountain,
Not thinking about the pieces underneath.
They never see more than the surface,
Don’t try to understand the tangled mess of words
Or see the thought trains that constantly collide.
They only see the fidgeting
Or the “inability” to learn,
But they can’t see more.
They can’t possibly fathom what happens underneath,
How big the iceberg really is.
They only know what they see,
But they could dive below the surface
If only they had a submarine
To see below sea,
To understand what’s going on
Beneath the tip of the iceberg.
When will they find that submarine?
