If I could do one thing over I would redo the East Regional Tournament. I was on the 2019 Connecticut Valley North little league team (CV). We won the District 4 tournament, then the state tournament, then we went to play in the East Regional Tournament.
We were having a great season in the state tournament my teammates and I hit a total of 3 home runs. We hit well and our fielding and pitching were good too. After we won, we went to the regional tournament. Everyone going there was excited. we’d been to regionals the past two years. But we did not compete well with the other teams. we lost all of our games by three or four runs. But something felt different about this year it seemed like we had a good chance of winning.
We won our first game in the tournament but then lost the second one to Rhode Island in extra innings. For some reason, we hadn’t been able to hit. nobody hit the ball well. We only got two hits and had 13 strikeouts. At this point, everyone was devastated and it felt like our season was already over.
Then we played Maine for our last game. We ended up losing to a walk-off double. No one knew exactly what to think. We started off the season so well we did not lose it the Reginald tournament. We got our first two losses. Our season was over. We all knew we could’ve done better. We even took Rhode Island the team that won the whole tournament into extra innings and lost by one on a bad day. We all knew we could have won the whole tournament.
We did not do anything wrong or not prepare. We just had a bad couple of games and our season was over. I would’ve re-done this event because we had a chance to go to the Little League World Series. But we had a bad couple of games and the opportunity was gone. I think this also goes to show how you need to take advantage of opportunities while you still have them.
