My favorite book by far is The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. I like this book because of the twists and turns in the plot. What happens in the story is that 17 year-old Avery Kylie Grambs (her full name is important later), who lost her mom the year before and is living with her sister, gets invited to the will reading of philanthropist Tobias Hawthorne. She was just a normal teenager, so this is obviously a shock. It turns out that he left Avery 48 billion dollars, and his own family basically nothing. His four grandsons: Nash, Grayson, Jameson, and Alexander (Xander), were disowned and are furious because of it. Tobias had not met Avery before so there was no reason for him to leave her the money. Avery and his grandsons spend the majority of the book going deep into Tobias’s past and uncover secrets that should have stayed buried to figure out why he left her his fortune.
The plot twists in this book are amazing and you will not want to put it down (I stayed up all night reading this book). It is special because the story is so unique that you really can’t compare it to other novels–at least the ones I have read. The development of the characters is phenomenal and each gets their own backstory. People should read this book because it is amazing from start to finish. And the best part? There are two sequels. Like I said, you will fall in love with some characters, hate others, and just dive into Avery’s world from her P.O.V.. Trust me, you won’t regret reading this!
