i’m aware of the addiction
yet i can't break it
but i try
and i try
and i try
as i ironically agree
with every instagram reel
saying phones
are ruining this world
and that we should all be
together
riding our bikes
telling jokes
playing cards
and talking to each other
face to face
something that seems impossible nowadays
oh the irony
of a stupid video
on my phone
telling me life is better
off without it
as the video’s views spike
being watched by eyes
the same as mine
people just like me
double-tap the screen
just to never see
it again
while the guilt invites itself
into our bodies
then seconds later
finds its way out
i admit that
my eyes are like moths
drawn to the flame
that is my screen
fingers scrolling like
levers on a machine
without a stop button
to be pushed
but i know i'd rather
not bed rot for hours at a time
even though it feels like i do
because i don't want
to keep missing out on
the blessing of
this world
and its people

It is ironic that we are addicted to phones which tell us not to be addicted to them. It's a bit of a paradox. I love your line breaks in this and how this flows so well together and sounds so pensive. Amazing piece, keep writing
thank you so much!!
