Justice

The justice part of the American justice system has left the building.

You should absolutely not be able to convict someone of a crime and have them suffer zero consequences.

No jail time.

No parole.

No community service.

Oh come on.

Not even a fine?

Donald Trump is not better than me. Or you. Or anyone. I would go as far as saying that most people are better than him.

Most have some sense of honesty and compassion.

But for some reason, he gets to break the law. A rule. Meant to keep society in check. Maybe I should go to the gas station and steal a soda. If he is going to break the law, why can’t I?

The law is ineffective.

People are too terrified of this man to do anything to upset him.

Things are just going to get worse. There are no checks on him. He has every branch of government under his thumb.

And that, friends, is how you know that justice has left the building.

I’m scared.

  • House of Cards

Democracy is fragile as a house of cards with many, many layers

    Many, many pieces

Many, many things that could go wrong

The slightest breath, enough to bring the whole thing crumbling

  • Him

    He doesn’t look at me
    Like I look at him
I know exactly what he does at recess
    Where he eats lunch
    His middle name
I know what books he likes
    What video games
I’ve slept in the same room with him

  • Treadmill

Sometimes I feel like I am running on a treadmill towards a big shiny sign that says “Relaxation.” Surronding the big shiny words are lots of other words.
