Looking up.

Stars softly glowing high above.

Feeling small

Wondering what is out there.

The moon.

A spotlight illuminating the earth below.

The door will always be open for you

I'm still waiting at it

Hopefully I'll be able to leave the doorway soon

But if you ever knock 

I'll come running without a second thought

You are not alone

You'll always have me

Even though its from a distance

Even though we don't talk anymore 

You'll always have me

If you need me 

Im only a tap away on your phone

My scarf wrapped around my neck

Keeping out the cold bite 

In it I feel the softness of a first kiss

The warmth of a summer night 

The comfort of a mother's love 

And birds singing above me

all the flowers down and

p u n c h e d

the waves until they 

s h a t t e r e d

like icy glass and I

c h a s e d

the grassy road till its end

s t o m p i n g

When you’re trapped

in a place you can’t escape,  

routines that never end,

drowning under piles of paper, 

with the deafening sounds 

of endless haunting expectations 

Can I go back

Back to the place I call home

Full of laughter and love

The place where I sleep above my friend

As I'm surrounded by so many others

Darkness

swallowing up the sunset

streaks of gold and orange and pink fading to a dark navy blue

then, finally

once the sky has been painted over with a seemingly endless coat of black

the stars come out

speaking to people with honey-thick & beautiful accents brings a whole new meaning to hanging on your every word

I am so sorry for what is going on

I apologize for a lot of people's actions

to specify, their stupid actions

Vermont sends its condolences

You were a little bird once

a chick

fluffy and begging for food

now you're all grown up

now you're learning to feed yourself

now your stretching your wings

practicing your landings and takeoffs

"Having a career isn't all that there is in life."
