Poetry

  • Droplets of letters of justice

    You matter.

Not in a pastel poster sort of way. Not in a science teacher’s dad-joke shirt sort of way.

In a rain drop sort of way.

The rain drops don’t need to be there

    Not all of them

    For it to be raining.

  • love take 2

you’re my over the rainbow / my in between months / tea and honey / from the sweetest flowers / the colors of your eyes and cerulean braces / thank you for being mine (again) / so please hold on / and don’t let me leave / again / i love you /

  • Balance beam

I'm walking on a balance beam

    I knew this would happen.

We all work so hard for this

    You do too

    We try to include everything

    Every article

    Every story

    We can't

    We have page limits.

  • Orange pen

    Orange pen

curving, looping, tracing my thoughts onto a page

    fulfilling my orders

    moved by my hand.

    Orange pen

    flying, soaring, leaping

    dancing across the page

  • How come?

    Are you aware

    what you did?

    For the third time?

    Once again?

    Do you know

    how I feel?

    Ignored

    overlooked

    how come?

How come you didn't put in my effort?

  • Used to

    I used to love fall

    nostalgia, pretty leaves

    now time flies faster.

I used to have friends who visited my house

    just to say hi

    who biked by

without a trace of jealousy of any boys I liked

  • Rice and bean soup

I had rice and bean soup for dinner

the rice was swirling in the broth

there was a single bean in my spoon

    and just as I thought

    I am the bean

the bean sunk beneath the surface.

  • Try.

    Try,

    Always try your best,

    even

    when it seems like

    the world is ending,

    always try,

because it can always make a difference.
