rosh hashanah

means head of the year,

tippy-top, press restart, new year, wind it up, begin again,

clean slate, fresh sheet of paper. so get out your markers.

we're going to draw ourselves a better world.

one where water flows thick & sweet as honey and fruit trees

are planted around every bend. where the air

is clean and at night the stars smile down at the fireflies.

a world where we have all the holidays off.

let the candles be lit. let us be broken and peaceful and free.

we're going to color outside the lines this year,

let everyone see that we can be unashamed. sing

and dance and cry. bake me a challah round as the moon,

another renewal, no beginning and no end. five seven

eight six sounds like the passcode for something important.

let it be. let us see the keypad light up green

and open the door to a fresh new year. shana tova.
