To save what is left is to stay alive-
To save what was torn untimely from our hearts
For culture is life, and without culture we are nothing
For us to die would be to give in
To survive would be to resist
Because to give up now
Would be an insult to those before us
To give up would be to forget those who resisted
Who kept close and passed on what we still have today
If their efforts were in vain
Because we couldn’t carry the torch
After they held it high even as their arms were being torn down
We can not let that happen
We can’t just survive, we must thrive
We should no longer have to resist
We still have everything we had before it was taken
There should be a fire to stoke
Not a torch to keep lit
But what we should have has never been given to us,
It has always been torn from us
We need to build it ourselves
Because no one but us
Can save what is still left
