This is what it's like when there's news of any large storm, tropical storm, or hurricane near the Gulf of Mexico. Currently, Hurricane Beryl is expected to hit Texas today. The elevation here is low, so the streets always flood, and many are trapped in their homes because they can't get their cars down the street. So here's my experience with the many large storms and hurricanes that hit Texas.
The rain’s already pouring
And the power has yet to go out
Soon,
The streets will be flooded
With water up to a foot deep
“Stay dry!”
Everyone says
As they hunt through the aisles of the stores
Taking what they need
Trying to get home safely
Costco is in apocalyptic mode
Overflowing with people
The workers overwhelmed by the chaos
The news is spreading like wildfire
And everyone’s in fear
Some are driving up north for the next few days
In fear of their homes being flooded
In fear of the winds that can knock down trees
It’s a normal routine
For every Texan near the Gulf of Mexico
Galveston’s only an hour’s drive
Everyone there has fled
And traffic will be a catastrophe
Soon,
We’ll be trapped
By the flooding.
Soon,
The only option
Will be to wait it out.

That was yesterday, so for your sake, if it did end up hitting, I hope you and your family are staying safe!
Hi, thanks. Today was the worst of it, and the power's been out all day. A lot of trees fell, but that's what happens when you live in The Woodlands lol. Right now my family's driving to College Station (a city nearby that has power and hotels) to stay the night. To anyone else who's been affected by the hurricane, stay safe!
