We the People Are the Fixers

“We the people”

Encapsulates everyone.

Not those of a certain party

Not those of a certain race

Not those of a certain background

It was purposefully written

To include everyone.

We the people

Know these facts:

The world needs help.

Everyone is divided

People hate each other

We are called to love

We the people

Are falling apart

Because politics are

Breaking us up

We the people

Are constantly watching

Those we love

Those we don’t even know

Suffer, die, fade.

We the people

Need to stop letting

Our unalienable rights

Be alien to so many

We the people

Are letting ideas and views

Dictate our actions

We the people

Need to put aside the differences

Regardless of party

Regardless of view

Regardless of

Race, background, belief, ability

We the people

Need to focus less on amendments

And more on amending

The injustices in our communities

We the people

Need to start

Doing what we can

To help those suffering.

We the people

Need to stop letting

Colors of skin and party

Determine whether we love

Whether we care

We the people

Need to start noticing

The heart in every person

That beats

Regardless of label

We the people

Need to disregard

What other people say

And help those

Whose general Welfare

Is not protected.

We the people

Need to suck up

Our differences

And work for a

Better tomorrow

We the people

Are a beautiful body

But need to act as

One.

Not two,

Not 10,

And not 8.2 billion.

We the people

Are capable of fixing

The broken places in

Our communities.

We the people

Are the writers of

Our own nation.

Why can’t we — the people —

Be the fixers of the

Brokenness seen in

Everyday life?

  • The Pain of Broken Friendship

A mini-canvas of me and her in a faceless painting style lies face down in the corner of my bookshelf. It took a month or two to turn over, but I still have the canvas. We made it at her house during a sleepover.

  • Love

Both love and hate are free, and easy

    But love makes people feel good;

    Make people feel good.
