The Record Setting Home Run

The Record Setting Home Run
Danny stepped up to the dish. First pitch from Felix, ball. Second pitch, strike, low and away. The third pitch was different, a big hanging curve, right into Danny’s hot spot. CRACK, the ball went flying so far into the sky no one could even see it. When the ball finally came back down, it was glowing with little glowing moon dust particles coming off of it. The ball hit the ground in such a way that it made a crater in the earth. People went running to collect the ball. Little did they know, they were in for a surprise. When people got to the ball, nobody wanted to go into the crater because they thought it would be dangerous. But a 10 year-old kid named Cody decided he would go into the crater and retrieve the ball. When Cody touched the ball he could feel a sensation inside of him; he felt powerful. When Cody came out of the pit he was mobbed by people. He had the home run ball that had set the world record for longest homerun ever. Cody has always loved baseball and wanted to be just like Danny.

10 years later…

With the 124th pick in the 2019 MLB draft, the Dodgers selected Cody Bellinger. Cody turned out to be a phenomenal baseball player but something special happened on August 24, 2020. Cody was now up to the plate, Sale on the mound. The first pitch Cody saw, he launched. The ball went farther than anybody had ever seen. The ball was out of sight so people waited for a minute and finally saw something flying back down to earth. Cody had hit the ball so far, it had touched the sun and was now a fireball. At that moment, Cody knew he had set the record for farthest ball ever hit in history. He had hit a 92.96 million mile home run!
