Monsters using my Toothbrush

When I was younger, probably six or seven, I thought monsters were using my toothbrush. Every morning before school, I would brush my teeth, and every morning my toothbrush had dried toothpaste on it. I knew it couldn’t be my doing because I held my toothbrush under cold water every morning to rinse it out. It had to be the monsters.

I didn’t want the monsters using my toothbrush, so I made a sign that said, “No monsters allowed in the bathroom!” I hung my sign on the bathroom door.

It didn’t work. My toothbrush still had dried toothpaste on it the next morning. I was angry. I warned the monsters that they couldn’t come into the bathroom, and they did anyway! The next day, I put soap on my toothbrush. I wanted to teach the monsters a lesson, so they would know that they couldn’t use my toothbrush anymore.

The next morning I ran downstairs to see if the monsters had fallen for my “trick”. The soap was still there. They hadn’t used my toothbrush when I was gone. I felt annoyed.  I left the soap on my toothbrush for a few days, but no more monsters used it. I had to really scrub to get the soap out of my toothbrush. The monsters never used my toothbrush again. I had to srub my toothbrush every time to get the soap out because I could still taste it. I’ve always wondered why the monsters never came back. I guess I will never know.
