I don’t like the word chivalry

The spelling

The sound

And what it means

Be chivalrous and put women first!

Can’t we just be treated as equals?

I think it’s dumb

A prince in shining armor

She’s always happy

I know that’s what they think

She wouldn’t hurt a fly 

That, too

Sometimes they don’t think

That it’s hard for me too

That I don’t always want to be the nice

Standing in the parking lot of her apartment, I see my friend. She's looking down, sad, and having just as hard of a time as me. 

I keep my head down. I don't want to leave. But I also do. I know its time.
