Preamble

Part One: “Of the People”

Let a symphony of voices form a cacophony so loud

God themselves won’t be able to ignore our 

grief, our

sorrow; the shattered fragments of our hearts

“Harris is a communist,” My grandfather protests. 

“Better a communist than a felon,” My father shoots back. 

i toured six different colleges over the past week

& i didn't care about the clubs

In the blustery cold of today’s noonday sun, I stand holding a sign amongst a group of people with similar signs.

Winter. A time of year we all know well.

A time of year when we hear the ringing of every bell.

A time of year when adults laugh and children play,

A time of year that lasts many a day.
