I found it was easier to forget than to hold on, 

a relief to consider myself free. 

I never could’ve realized how suffocating it was to chase thrills, 

the night, smooth as silk, wraps me in a warm embrace 

the heat of the moment takes me by surprise, 

I tried slamming the door, 

Staying quiet, listening, keeping myself locked up, 

Pretending it wasn’t real, 

I wonder what kind of mind lies behind those big brown eyes,  

behind her laugh, which makes the sweetest souls swoon, 

behind her smile, infectious and sugar sweet. 

yet through it all, 

I watch him from afar, as he gets out of his car. 
I can tell he’s scared. 
I smooth out my dress and lean up against the brick behind me. 
I watch his eyes, and they tell me everything I need to know. 

I locked eyes with him, the glowing man on the stage. 

He glimmered, his red hair shining under the spotlight. 

That was all it took for my heart to be stolen away.
