"Hi! Nice morning. How are you?" It was a sunny Monday morning in the middle of July. Mom, needing to grab a few things from the store after a morning activity, had stopped at BJ’s before heading home.

She wrote until her fingers carved groves in the silence and spoiled the blankness before. Then, she turned to each surface left unwrote and sang. The birch trees wept as she tore back the bark to reveal stories beneath.

Cigarette smoke

Filling lungs along with the smell
Of fried things, that shouldn’t be fried
Screams fill the night, lit up with rides

The Time I Flew
I was cold. I shivered up in my sheets and peeked out my window into the night. The moon was stone cold, making me shiver even more. I leaned back and my head hit the pillow, and I pulled the blankets over my head. I began to feel dizzy.
