I know how it is to have a prompt in front of you, but be so distracted by something or someone else that you have to find a work-around in order to get out your feelings at the same time. You managed that very effectively!
You have an incredible power of observation! It can be difficult sometimes to remind ourselves to LOOK UP, LOOK OUT, look at the world around us. Some settings, like the library, are (often surprisingly) so full of life. And you made it come alive all over again in this poem!
This photo shimmers! It's so easy to feel glum in the winter, but looking upon the sun shining in a blue sky and snowfall piled on top of a fir's branches, it's impossible not to see the beauty in the season, too.
Although the parting message of this poem is not one of hope (which I fully understand; it's so difficult to stay optimistic as the climate crisis worsens), you did such an amazing job of describing Mother Nature's great wonders and beauties. She deserves so much respect, and is rarely given it.
