I'm left wanting more, more from this character, this world. Your speaker is less than "human" if they're immortal, and yet they've tapped into exactly what it means to be human, the most important things to any human... ahh! How poignant. Be sure to keep this one in mind as a springboard for a short story if you ever want to stretch yourself, or have an assignment.
The kind of love we're all desperately seeking, sometimes our entire lives---! I appreciate the metaphor here of time finally ripening as if it is harvest season: the golden years have arrived for this pair, years of joy to savor together. It's very touching.
