YESSS i've only read the first one but it's super good (got scared cause I read it when I was like six years old) and gonna get back into the show! lemony snicket is a really good if maddeningly mysterious author; same with Zeno Alexander who wrote the Library of Ever series!

I am always having writer's block too! I try to write in a different style than normal when I can't seem to think of any ideas. Today I wrote a prose poem for the first time (there's a YWP workshop about it and it's really helpful!!!) and it was super fun, even if it might not have been my best ever. Hope that helps!

oh HELL yes! this is so beautifully written! the prose poetry makes everything blend in, and you can't see how excellent each word and fluid sentence is until you peer closer. I love the similes and the way we can all feel for this is so terrifying: so disgustingly human. SO GOOD PLEASE KEEP WRITING! :D

Thank you so much for the comments! I'm not exactly great at coming back to a long-term project, so this was a little rambly and loose.

Thank you so much! That wasn't even my intention, but now I see the connection. :)

Hi, I have a few suggestions:

1. Pick a random word, and write a poem based on it.

2. Look up writing prompts on the internet

3. Read. I asked an international bestselling author for advice on becoming a better writer, and she said that the best way to improve is to read. Reading can also give you ideas on what to write as well

4. Write about what's going on in the world around you

5. If you want to make a habit of writing every day, force yourself to write. Even if your idea is terrible, write it down, even if it's only a line of poetry. At least you wrote today, and that's what matters.

I agree! I really enjoyed the chapter. The shorter perspectives make you pay attention more, and it gives each paragraph - each word - more power.
