Tiny Writes
I noticed that high schoolers tend to create this unspoken rule about who is popular and who is not. It’s so confusing and stupid and yet we still follow by these rules. How does everyone feel about them? Do you follow them or try to break them?

Oh yeah I try to break em!
I strive to be the most unpopular, yet still likeable bc I'm a good perosn. You would think this would make respect, but I kinda just get bullied a lot.
this is literally just society. all schools, government, everyone's brains are hardwired to do this
my friend group tries to be kind of like the outcasts, the weirdos who are really the kindest and funniest and smartest. we're the ones who people come to for help and our group grows whenever the 'popular kids' (whom I call the 'crop top gang') kick out another person.
It's so stupid. I also notice it in public middle school, you can literally draw lines between the "cool kids" and the "not cool kids". I find that it's better in the private school I go to part time but still there are some unspoken rules that I tend to follow about who can be friends with who.
Yeah, I agree. What I've noticed (as the oldest sibling) is that the younger sibling(s) in the family are more popular than the oldest. Is that just in my school, or is that in other states too?
a little context for me: i'm openly queer and I go to a catholic school (because I got a scholarship haha) and there are multiple "cults" in my school. I'm proud to be part of the theatre cult, but it's very noticeable that there are popular and unpopular cliques. it breaks my heart a little that I cant be considered popular or well-liked if I'm not a perfect fit for the cookie-cutter mold at my school, but I'm happy with the group I'm in and the people I'm surrounded by.
I have DEFINITELY noticed those ridiculous trends. I'm in seventh grade and it's still around - it kinda started around fifth grade. One of my best friends actually decided to reinforce the "popular" stereotype...ugh. I try to break it. I think people are so ridiculous right now and it's really exhausting for me. It kills me because I would probably be friends with some of the "cool kids" if they didn't act so rudely superior! I'm really glad you guys seem to get it because not a lot of people do right now.
