Tiny Writes
I recently went to my first concert, and I’ve been wanting to write poems that are as lyrically pleasing as the band I went to see. Does anyone else ever listen to an artist/band and wonder what their poems would sound like as songs? Or wish they could turn their poems into something more like a song?

I also went to my first concert recently as well! It's interesting to see how similar music lyrics and poetry are, and most songs read like poetry. Sometimes I sing my poems to myself to establish a rhythm and imagine them as songs.
I do that too! Except I imagine a nice rhythm of a guitar or bass guitar behind my poetry! To be honest, I wish I could play an instrument so I could create my poems into something much more than ‘just words.’
I do a lot. I also sometime use songs that mean a lot to me as inspiration for poems that I write. I think very good songs are just long poems that rhyme and repeat.
I totally agree! There are many songs that I love that I can see being very long poems.
What songs are they? I would love to check them out!
Life Eternal by Ghost, Darkness at The Heart of My Love by Ghost, If Not For You by Måneskin, My December by Linkin Park, and a lot more! Do you know of any songs that remind you of poems?
ok great! I'll check them out. Mine are Peace by Taylor Swift, Please by May Erlewine, Ceilings by Lizzy McAlpine, and What was I made for by Billie Eilish and more of course.
I totally do this! Especially when I listen to Phoebe Bridgers/Boygenius/Mitski who all have very poetic lyrics that can double as poems. It's fun to experiment with your writing and see how you could add a musical aspect to it - also reminds me of some spoken word poems I saw a while ago that incorporated songs mid-poem (I think it was Sarah Kay).
Yes! And I've even tried turning my poems into little songs or give them a melody if they rhyme. I definitly hope you try writing lyrics and experiment with musisc if you like it's super fun :D
I would love to experiment with creating song lyrics, and turning them into small songs! I don’t have any instruments (currently), but I’ll definitely try creating lyrics at some point!
I highly recommend it! Also you can use a free website like garage band or band lab and use pre-recorded piano/drum/etc tracks :) happy writing!
YES! every time I listen to Leonard Cohen.
