Grrrr

I stood in the kitchen

Hiss

Went my teakettle

Then my eyes turned to my aged wooden door creaking open.  I live in the forest alone.  It’s a peaceful sort of alone.

Chirp chirp!

Called the chorus of birds outside.  I stepped out of my mossy cabin, breathing deeply and smiling.

Squeeeeaaak

Went my nearly ancient steps as I walked down them.

Then I heard it.

Grrrrrrr… GRRRRRRR

The sound nearly caused me to jump from my boots.  I wasn’t thinking properly, and instead of running back inside, I ran far into the woods.

Thump thump thump

Came the sound of my feet.  Then I heard the sound again, louder.

GRRRRRRRRR!

I stopped and ran up a tree.  Sitting as still as I could.

There was no bear.

Not a wolf.

No mountain lion.

Not even a skunk.

I was relieved, but then.

GRRRRRRRRRR!!!

Then it hit me.

My stomach was growling.

“Haha, pretty crazy getting stuck, huh?”, Ben mentioned, trying to break the awkward ice.

“Yeah, haha.”, remarked Danny, quickly looking away from the uncomfortable outcome.
