Stand

Turning away from an old life

Tricky and sometimes with strife

It’s full of things you think you want

Sometimes it will dare to taunt

Why must the things we want be of danger

When what we really need came in a manger

Why is it that it’s so hard

When we feel that we’ve been barred

In the things we dwell on

The things we dwell in

The little things that may seem small

The spray paint that you put on the wall

The “little white lie” that you said to that guy

The candy bar you took

That you never paid for

Then back on it you look

And you’re pressured into more

Then, before you know

You feel you can’t go

Back to where you began

For you’ve fallen too far for your feet to land

But it’s all part of a plan

If you just now take that hand

I promise you, again you’ll stand
