My little sister
Only 7 years old
Innocent
And yet strong willed
She will grow up
In this country
With this president
This person who calls himself
A leader
She will watch women
Around her
Be hurt by his laws
She will live in fear
She will hear about Canada
And passports
She will hear about violence
And pain
She will grow up
In this nation
With this president
I swear
If he makes her
Lose her fierceness
I will personally
Talk to him
If he makes her
Scared to be herself
I will write email after email
Letter after letter
My little sister
My strong
Fierce
Bright
Bold
My little sister
You are better than him

This made me cry as an aunt to my younger niece and nephew. You summed this feeling up perfectly. Growing up in these times of hardship can be especially concerning, especially watching young family members have to grow in this world. Know that she will always look to you for support, and your words will help save her. Remember to take care of yourself, as well. Your voice matters; this poem is a great example of how wonderful it can be. <3
Thank you <3
