Separation

It's always the goodbyes that are hardest

especially when you've gotten so close

after years of distance

it's worst when you don't end up getting to spend the time you wanted to spend with them

being dragged away by your little cousins to play "princess spies" or "animal hospital"

which I don't mind that much

I just wanted to spend more time with others before they had to leave

to return to California.

We actually had a whole plan

you could move here

hopefully over the summer

and we could go to school together

live near each other

but of course that would never happen,

could never happen

after all, the houses here are freakishly expensive

the food as well

and also taxes.

The distance between us won't be too bad

because I have your email

and you have mine

so that means we won't grow apart...

    this is my routine;

    come home from school

open to this the first chance I get

    write.

    Write

    write

    write

    all I do

  • Questions

    I'm

    confused

    did I do it

    what happened?

    You were melancholy earlier

    what is going on

    what did I miss

    was it me?

    You talk in subtle hints

but what are you hinting at?

  • Beauty

    The world is muted

    muffled

as the snow sprinkles your hair

    lice,

you remember a friend calling it once in 5th grade

you got mad at him for that.
