I trace my fingertips over my skin,

Imagining everything going on within it:

Each little protein being made,

Each cell passing through my bloodstream.

Every strand of DNA is coiled up,

Making me up,

Beep-beep-beep! Finally! Wait- I need to get in the shower. I kick out of my sheets and claw through the depths of my dresser. I grab whatever clothes I think match in my dreary, early morning, teenage state of mind.

What do you wonder,

just by yourself?

What do you dream?

Say nothing else.

Tell me your hopes,

your wishes,

your every desire,

'cause life is short,

days aren't long.

If you wish 

Numbers:

Simple little things,

Tiny scratches on paper,

Spelling out equations,

Formulas to the universe.

As I sometimes say, I’m Jewish, emphasis on the ish. That is to say that my family and I casually follow some Jewish traditions but are far from very religious.

It's a thin, fragile book

you would keep in a desk

the cover is elegant

and the pages, a mess
